Three years with cancer and still here!

I don't have a giant long-winded blog post today (you can thank me later) just a couple quick stories that will sound familiar to anyone who is also on facebook with me.

Last week, and continuing into this week, it seems like so many of my friends and acquaintances were having incredibly hard weeks. Some entering hospice, some facing major surgery, another loosing her husband to cancer. That combined with the upcoming third anniversary of my cancer diagnosis put in a pretty lousy mood this past weekend.  When I went to church, one line from one of the prayers stuck out to me: "Reawaken our sense of wonder at the miracle and brevity of life."  I think we could all  use a little more wonder.

To somehow mark the third anniversary of my diagnosis, and thank my coworkers for continuing to put up with me, I decided to bring in donuts to celebrate.  (It's tradition to bring in a treat for any celebration, like birthdays or a promotion.)   I checked with my co-worker whose birthday was today to make sure she was ok with me bringing in donuts to celebrate my "three years with cancer and still here" day. She said that was fine. She brought in ice cream cake that said "Happy Celebrate Life Day" because, as she put it, "that applies to both of us". My coworkers are awesome!

That's all I've got.  Wonder and ice cream cake; it was a good day!
